Pekka, Spain: From flamenco to surfing

Working for a newspaper certainly gives you a lot of opportunities to meet different people and see new places. This week started with a basic news story about a charity event and ended with a spectacular flamenco show I got the pleasure of covering.

In between we covered stories from local businesses and entrepreneurs to surfers having a blast on the coastline. Regular work for a photographer, but also very interesting and much fun. I take great pride in my work, but I'm happy to be able to say that I enjoy every moment. I think that is a privilege.

This weekend I will not be resting on my laurels. I will travel to Granada, Sierra Nevada, Almeria and many places in between. Hoping to take great images with my camera.

Below are images from this week's paper and also some stock photos for the future.

Last day in Iceland. The teachers took me out to dinner. Nice little place right in heart of Reykjavik called Snaps.
The day went by pretty fast. Of course i had my europass papers just yesterday so needed to run around city to get the signatures. Weather wasn't the greatest for that job.
First i went to the radio station. There had been staff cut out day before and now they were outside of the radio station making their statement for the government.Sixty people will lose their jobs at RÚV, Iceland's national broadcaster, in cost cutting measures, as announced yesterday morning. Thirty-nine people have already received notice.

After radio station, i went to visit Gudmundur which i was happy to see. He is just a nice man. He let me print out my boarding pass at hes computer, didn't need to find the library then. And he showed me dark room stuff that i would need if i wanna make my own dark room some day. Ebay is the place to go ;)

Now, everything is packed. Will try to sleep for few hours, lets see if i can. Cant wait to get home!

Thank U Iceland, you were very pretty. Will see you again. Maybe in spring, when all the whales and puffins are awake ;)

BLESS!!

On monday and tuesday I did some prosessing of one couples baby pictures that Jiten photographed. I can`t post that pictures there because they wasn`t mine pictures. I also prosessed wedding pictures that I was making in friday. You can see all my selections of photographs in http://www.hannuphoto.com/photos/haat/kuki-carlos/.

On wednesday I got one old picture that I had to do some retouching. It was quite hard to do because it was so badly got moisture. It takes all day for me but I did something else to refresh my mind. On thursday I was half day off from the work because there is a weddings at 5-7.12 so I could take a free day. On friday I did some retouching for an old photo and it takes almost whole day.

All Play No Work ~Kaisa~

It's time to relax! Although, it hasn't been very hard work. In the radio/tv-station RÚV, i took one official photo about the host; Óla Palla. Photo is coming into a poster.

I saw few tv series made and took some making of- photos about that. But that was just for fun.
Other time i edited some photos for other people. Don't know are the photos going anywhere. Maybe just in the facebook.
The food in the radio station was not good! After sheep's balls there was lots of fish, and it wasn't made very well. Everytime it was all mashed up and didn't really taste of anything. But it was free for me.

Few days in reykjavik and then home!

Pekka, Spain: Business as usual

A long awaited road trip was my opening for week four. I rented a car and drove around western Andalucia for three days. Absolutely amazing sceneries. After two hours riding the car, and having only driven about 40 kilometers from the home base halfway to the town of Ronda, I decided that I have put my foot on the gas, and drive faster to my first destination Arcos de la Frontera. Also decided that will return to Ronda before my time here is over.

From Arcos I continued to Jerez de la Frontera, Cadiz and Tarifa. Had a lot of fun and got to once again take great pictures. After three days of fun, it was time to head back to the newspaper and work. This weeks assignments included interviews, local events and also some image bank work. During my stay here, I will shoot a lot of stock photography for the newspaper locally and some also on my trips away from Fuengirola. Already on this weeks paper we used some of my stock images from Gibraltar and Arcos. Today I also got to set up a little studio inside our offices, because one of our clients needed special pictures for their advertisement.

Next week should be interesting, I´ve got a couple of special assignments planned, but cannot write about them yet…

This weeks images are from my road trip and news photos which are published in tomorrows paper.
