I still can’t believe how these people here react to cameras. In Finland I’m used to that people don’t want to be in photos and are in shame and afraid of something. Here people are more like honoured if I choose to include them in the frame when shooting in public places. I have asked a few locals if I could take an intimate profile picture of them and they are often more than happy to pose for me.
The photos below are mainly from big and well known annual fair here in Fuengirola called “La Feria de los Pueblos”. The main theme of the fair is the cultures of the world. It takes place on a long street and on both sides of that street is a row of houses, each with one big room inside. In every house there is a different country and a culture represented -often with live music acts and a bar serving traditional foods and beverages of that country. This year there was over 30 countries taking part and thousands of people "exploring the world". This was an amazing opportunity for me as a photographer. I could almost redo my whole portfolio in a single day.
The rest of the images below are from the other gigs for the magazine.
